WILD HORSES chords, lyrics & live video – Rolling Stones

Wild Horses chords Rolling Stones

This overview includes Wild Horses chords, lyrics and a great live video performance with the Rolling Stones. Wild Horses was released in 1971 on Sticky Fingers final album. The live video below really is a great version of this timeless classic. It’s great to see them in the studio. Keith Richards is simply amazing on acoustic guitar and he is playing in Open G tuning. Those open chords really fill the song with incredible tone.

Wild Horses Chords

The song Wild Horses by The Rolling Stones is written in the key of G Major. Keith uses a great open G chord for the intro [G major] which is basically the root chord shape throughout the entire song. Even though the studio recording is played with open chords, you can certainly learn the song in standard tuning and it will sound great (see all the standard chords below). In addition, the solo played and all the accompanying lead riffs are right out of the Am pentatonic scale. The combination of chords and solo riffs sound amazing. For sure, you will find plenty of sweet soulful sounds throughout this great acoustic guitar tune.

Wild Horses recorded LIVE in the Studio

This really is one of those songs that just hits you right away and gets you every single time. The country and western feel is large part to the collaboration between Keith Richards and Gram Parsons. They were great friends and Parsons really influenced Keith’s playing when it came to country music. You can learn more about Gram Parsons and his impact on the Stones here.
